Sadly free 1099 tax forms do not exist. You cant use free documents found online somewhere. Reason being the federal applications first page is a special OCR form printed in a special shade of red. These are read by machines at the IRS. There is an explicit warning on the .pdf files at the IRS website that states that you cannot use downloaded form. You must file taxes with 1099's through the IRS or purchase them from a commercial property supplier.

Only have a few 1099 forms to do? Buy a package from an office supply store. If you file more than 250, you are required to file information electronically. I checked on Office Depot, you can't download the 1099 form documents, but they have many others forms. Although free 1099 tax forms are not available you can usually get federal documents that are fine for property taxes and are sometimes free from the IRS.
The link below is for the 2006 General Instructions for Forms 1099, 1098, 5498 and W-2G. You will want to skip to page 16 for info in the 1099's. They can accept a 1099-form free and enures teh application is not lost and informaiton is acurate.
How To Get a 1099-form for filing taxes easily. Because the IRS processes paper forms by machine, you cannot file with the application Form 1096 or Copy A of Forms 1098, 1099, or 5498 that you print from the IRS website or the CD.
Federal Tax Returns or informaiton can be filed electronically provided you have special federal software that can produce the file in the proper format as required by Publication 1220. IRS does not provide an electronic fill-in form option. If you do have the software that can create the file in the proper format and you have a TCC (Transmitter Control Code) you can obtain more information by downloading Publication 3609, FIRE to complete your application.
